Honouring the Women Who Power Equinox Gold

Celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month

Behind every mine are the people who make it work. And our success as a leading gold producer is due in part to the women whose expertise and dedication strengthen Equinox Gold every day.

In recognition of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we are proud to celebrate the talented women across our company who bring skill, care and leadership to everything we do. Their contributions strengthen our teams, our communities and our business – and we’re committed to building an environment where they can grow, lead and thrive.

Changing the face of gold mining – and expanding what’s possible

Mining has long been perceived as a male-dominated industry – often defined by technical, site-based work and remote operations.

That perception still shapes who sees themselves in the sector, and sometimes even who feels confident pursuing this career. Rotating schedules and travel distances can present additional challenges for women.

But the industry is evolving.

Across jurisdictions, including at Equinox Gold, companies are building safer, more inclusive and more equitable workplaces. That cultural shift is attracting more women and supporting long‑term, meaningful careers in mining. “Ensuring that more women see a future in mining isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s a strategic priority that strengthens decision‑making and positions us for long‑term success,” says Daniella Dimitrov, Chief Strategy & Risk Officer at Equinox Gold.

A featured speaker at the Central America & Caribbean Day hosted by Women in Mining Central America during PDAC 2026, Daniella shared encouraging data about women’s increasing participation across our operations in the region, and showcased how integrating diverse perspectives – including women in technical, operational and strategic roles – is directly improving operational outcomes and strengthening Equinox Gold’s growth plans across the Americas.

It’s a trend Anne Pérez Rivera, Senior Communications Manager at Equinox Gold, has noticed too. “I’ve seen significant changes in recent years,” she confirms. “Today, companies are actively working to improve diversity and inclusion, and to bring more women into operational, technical and management roles.”

In Latin America, Anne is seeing more women move into supervisory positions – growth that is reflected within Equinox Gold´s teams, too. “We’re also seeing companies develop specific programs to hire, train and retain women,” she adds, “adapting work environments, safety measures and infrastructure that historically didn’t account for women’s needs.”

There is more work ahead, but the direction is clear – and provides reason for optimism and recognition.

Celebrating this year’s ‘Woman of Gold’

Progress is more powerful when it’s amplified by others.

That’s why we’re so proud Equinox Gold team members have been honoured by Women in Mining – Central America (WIM-CA) as “Mujeres de Oro” – Women of Gold – an award that celebrates excellence, leadership and impact within the gold mining sector.

This year, we’re especially pleased to celebrate Anne as an award recipient. She oversees internal and external communications across multiple jurisdictions, cultures and communities. Over her 25-year career – including nearly 15 years in mining – she’s seen both the industry and her role evolve. “That evolution hasn’t only been the result of promotions,” she says. “It’s come from continuous learning, experience and developing a much broader understanding of the business.”

Anne was initially drawn to mining for the challenge of learning something new. “Mining has challenged me to adapt, stretch my skills and step into opportunities that have broadened my perspective in meaningful ways,” she says.

She credits Equinox Gold with providing development opportunities that allow women to advance, strengthen their skills and broaden their experience.

“I always say that working at Equinox Gold is a blessing because my voice as a professional carries weight, and I’m surrounded by good people in an environment built on respect,” she says. “Across our offices and mine sites, I see incredible women who inspire me. For many of us, including myself, contributing to a company that creates real, positive value truly matters.”

Building opportunities for women, inside our workplace and beyond

Women currently represent approximately 16% of our workforce.

While we recognize there is more progress to be made, this reflects growth in an industry that has historically seen lower female representation.

To continue building momentum, Equinox Gold has established a formal Diversity Policy and a strong commitment to human rights – ensuring that hiring, development, promotion and training decisions are grounded in equity.

We’re particularly proud of programs focused on training and advancing women in technical and operational roles. Many women join us without prior mining experience, and through structured training programs, they gain the skills, certifications and confidence required to step into specialized positions – strengthening both their careers and our operations.

And the impact extends far beyond our mine sites.

At our Borosi Mine in Nicaragua’s North Caribbean region, we launched a training program for women from nearby rural communities. Many participants had never actually driven a vehicle. “One of the participants previously worked in housekeeping, and today she is one of our heavy-equipment operators,” Anne shares.

That kind of transformation improves living conditions for families, builds community pride and creates long-term economic opportunity. When women access skilled employment, the benefits ripple into regional economies.

“We firmly believe that when women thrive in mining, communities thrive with them,” says Anne. “It’s one of the most powerful ways to create shared value and leave a lasting, positive legacy in the regions where we operate.”

There is still work to do, but the momentum is real, the impact is visible and measurable, and  it will only keep growing from here.
